Mass Effect 3 – We’re all welcome

Mass Effect has been a great example of innovation, combining the shooter/action genre with classic RPG elements, like dialogue,  optional side-quests, interchangeable companions with individual personalities, skills and input and moreover there is a ton of variables – the amount is insane (which is good.)

The original Mass Effect was very RPG focused, more than the rest, and to be honest, the enemy AI was just plain stupid (not for the geth, for some reason) – the way they moved around was just retarded and mostly not even fun. Luckily, the shooter-part of the game was cranked up in the sequel, in such a major way that I couldn’t help exhaling a little “wow” and of course also hair (don’t ask.) Even though the shooter-sequences were improved so much, and this is the great part, the RPG elements were maintained and perhaps even improved with the “impulse actions.”

Now, Mass Effect 3 is coming and we already know that the shooter-part has become much more crucial and focused, which leaves us with the question: “is there still room for the simple, non-shooter guy or gal, who just want to enjoy the nothing-short-of-epic story that the Mass Effect series feature?”

As comforting as teddy is to a scared child, or  a machete is for the hockeymask-wearing psychopath who’s in the process of slaughtering his entire family, I can safely confirm for you – Yes, there is more than just room – There’s an entire mode dedicated to you!

Mass Effect 3 will feature 3 play styles.
Action – A mode which will “streamline” all the cut-scenes, automating all of the conversations with a mixture of paragon and renegade dialogue lines.  Story mode (this is the one) – This mode will make combat very short and easy, es to speed up progress for those more invested in the story, which is, as you already know, quite awesome. Finally there is of course Role-playing mode – A mixture of the two, which is equal to the way the previous games have worked.
