Because both Sony and Microsoft have been saying (for 2 years now) that the ps3 and xbox got plenty of power in them, enough to last until about 2014-2015 before an upgrade (even though they'll probably do it before then). Sony got plenty of other products then can earn money from, then really don't need the playstation.. They got other products that can do the most important things as a ps3.. Because Metro is a bit down the line - tied up with Windows 8 - I take this to mean that they intend to have a new console in time. They put a lot of effort into Project Natal/Kinect too, so it doesn't seem to make sense for them to stop producing consoles while working on revolutionary gaming technology. Sony on the other hand struggled mightily rolling out the PS3 and might not want to go through that again. I tend not to believe that, but they make the most sense to exit the market.
